Theoretical Astrophysics and Planetary Science
In response to the discovery of other planetary systems, to planetary exploration missions, to exiting laboratory work, and a renewed interest in the origin and sustainability of life, the field of planetary science is exploding. Planets have been shown to be a common occurrence with a diversity far exceeding expectations. So far, this has baffled our understanding and left us with a highly challenging problem to solve.
Our group carries out investigations aimed at understanding the physical and chemical processes involved in the formation and evolution of the solar and other planetary systems. For this, we use a comprehensive approach based on theoretical modeling, laboratory and in-situ measurements, as well as astronomical observations. Some selected aspects of our work are detailed here, more can be found by consulting the publication data base
